November 10, 2001 Devils & Leafs Tie, 1-1
The New Jersey Devils tied the Toronto Maple Leafs 1-1
in Toronto on Saturday, November 10, 2001.
The first period of the game may have been scoreless, but
there was plenty of action.
Just 1:44 into the game, Jim McKenzie was egged on by Belak
of Toronto, and the two fought. McKenzie got the better of Belak
in that battle, making him 2-2 in two nights.
The Devils outshot the Maple Leafs 9-4 in the scoreless
first period.
The second period was played tightly, and the only goal
scored came on the power-play.
Mats Sundin scored for the Leafs with the man advantage,
putting a puck through Brodeurs legs at 17:55.
The second period ended with the Maple Leafs leading 1-0.
The Devils outshot the Leafs 13-9 in the period.
John Madden Tied the game at 8:59 with a nice shot put
passed Curtis Joseph. Bobby Holik and Ken Daneyko got assists
on Maddens third goal of the season.
&nhsp; Regulation time ended with the game tied, 1-1.
The Devils outshot the Leafs 11-8 in the period.
The Devils were successful at killing off 1:33 of a
Toronto power-play in the overtime period. No goals were scored
and the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
Shots were even (1-1) in the overtime, but the Devils
outshot the Maple Leafs 34-23 in the game. The Maple Leafs were
1-6 on the power-play and the Devils were 0-3 with the man advantage.
Tommy Albelin and Pierre Dagenais were healthy scratches
for the Devils.
