January 16, 2003 Pandolfo Diagnosed: Slight Concussion
Jay Pandolfo learned on Thursday, January 16, 2003,
that he is recovering from a slight concussion.
Pandolfo was injured on Saturday, January 11, 2003,
when the Devils were playing the Lightning in Tampa Pay.
Jay had a breakaway as a Devils power-play was expiring. He
rushed up the ice along the boards, but Cory Sarich was released
from the penalty box as Pandolfo approached. He was,
without warning, blind-sided with an elbow from Sarich.
Jay was shaken up and missed the following two games
with "general soreness". After still feeling the effects of
the hit days later, he underwent additional tests, which uncovered
the concussion.
Though he has worked out off the ice, he will not
begin skating again until Sunday, January 19, 2002. He will
miss both games against the Hurricanes.
