January 29, 2003 Stevens Named Captain of Eastern Conf All-Star Team
Scott Stevens was named captain of the Eastern Conference
All-Star team on Wednesday, January 29, 2003. The All-Star game
will be played on Sunday, February 2, 2003 in Sunrise Florida.
The game will be broadcast on ABC.
Mario Lemieux was originally slated to be the East's
captain, but will miss the game with a nagging groin injury.
Brian Leetch was voted to start on defense for the East will miss the
game with a foot injury. With Leetch out, Stevens is his likely
replacement to start on defense.
The appearance will be Stevens' 13th - but his first time
as an All-Star team captain. Teammate Martin Brodeur will also be
in the lineup for the Eastern Conference.
