February 12, 2003 Game 56: Devils Shutout Coyotes, 3-0!
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Coyotes in Phoenix, 3-0, on
Wednesday, February 12, 2003. The shutout was Brodeur's 7th of the
season and 62nd of his career.
There was no scoring in the first, but the Devils outshot the
Coyotes 7-4 in the period.
Mike Rupp recorded his 5th goal of the season in an odd play
where he came off the bench late. His goal was assisted by Jim McKenzie
and Scott Niedermayer.
The first period ended with the Devils leading the Coyotes, 1-0.
The Devils outhot Phoenix 19-9 in the period.
Jiri Bicek beat Boucher at 2:53 of the third period to give the Devils a
2-0. Scott Gomez and Colin White assisted on Bicek's 3rd goal of the
season.
Jeff Friesen scored at 14:21 to give the Devils a 3-0 lead.
Jamie Langenbrunner and Scott Niedermayer assisted on Friesen's 14th goal of
the season.
The game ended with the Devils defeating the Coyotes, 3-0.
The Devils outshot the Coyotes 12-6 in the third and 38-18 in the game.
The game was the only meeting this season between the two
teams.
