May 10, 2003 Round 3 Game 1: Senators Beat Devils, 3-2 in OT
The New Jersey Devils were defeated, 3-2 in overtime, by the
Senators in Ottawa on Saturday, May 10, 2003.
Chris Neil deflected the puck past Martin Brodeur 6:10 into the
first period to give the Senators an early 1-0 lead. Todd White beat
Brodeur just 1:13 later to make it a 2-0 lead.
The first period ended with the Senators holding a 2-0 lead over
the Devils. The Devils outshot the Senators 13-8 in the period.
Joe Nieuwendyk beat Patrick Lalime at 14:19 of the second period
to cut the Senators lead to 1 goal. Jeff Friesen and Scott Niedermayer
assisted on Nieuwendyk's second goal of the playoffs.
Jay Pandolfo blasted the puck past Lalime with 3:09 remaining in
the second period to tie the game, 2-2. Jamie Langenbrunner and John
Madden assisted on Pandolfo's second goal of the playofss.
The second period ended with the game tied, 2-2. The
Devils outshot the Senators, 13-10 in the period.
There was no scoring in the third period. After 3 periods,
the game was tied, 2-2 - the Senators outshot the Devils 11-7 in the third
period.
Shaun Van Allen beat Martin Brodeur X:XX into the first overtime
to win the game for the Senators, 3-2.
