May 29, 2003 Round 4 Game 2: Devils Roast Ducks: 3-0!
The New Jersey Devils crushed the Anaheim Mighty Ducks at home,
on Thursday, May 29, 2003. The shutout was Brodeur's 6th of this years
playoffs.
There was no scoring in the first period. The shots were
also even, 7-7 in the period.
The New Jersey Devils took a 1-0 lead, 4:42 into the second
period, when Patrik Elias slapped the puck past Jean-Sebastien Giguere on the
power-play. Oleg Tverdovsky and Scott Gomez assisted on Elias' third
goal of the playoffs.
Scott Gomez made it a 2-0 lead by deflecting a shot from Oleg
Tverdovsky at 12:12 of the second period. Patrik Elias also assisted on
Gomez's second goal of the playoffs.
The second period ended with the Devils leading the Ducks, 2-0.
The Devils outshot the Ducks, 6-2 in the period.
Jeff Friesen made it 3-0 at 4:22 of the third period, scoring his
third goal of the series against his former team. Brian Gionta and Scott
Niedermayer assisted on Friesen's eigth goal of the playoffs.
The game ended with the Devils defeating the Ducks, 3-0.
The Devils outshot the Ducks, 12-7 in the period and 25-16 in the game.
