Game 4: Devils First Loss - Fall to Lightning, 3-2

    The New Jersey Devils suffered their first loss of season, falling 3-2 to the Tampa Bay Lightning at home on Saturday, October 18, 2003.

    Here are a few of my pictures from the game.

    Martin Cibak gave the Lightning a 1-0 lead by beating Martin Brodeur at 11:52 of the first period.

    The first period ended with Tampa Bay leading New Jersey, 1-0.   The Lightning outshot the Devils 9-8 in the period.

    Patrik Elias beat Nikolai Khabibulin just 1:54 into the second period, on the power-play to tie the game, 1-1.   Elias' 1st goal of the season was assisted by Scott Gomez and Brian Rafalski.

    Paul Martin recorded his first career NHL goal at 7:47 of the second period to give the Devils a 2-1 lead.   Martin's goal was assisted by Igor Larionov.

    Vincent Lecavalier tied the game, 2-2 with a power-play goal with 2:03 remaining in the second period.

    The second period ended with the game tied, 2-2.   The Devils outshot the Lightning, 13-8 in the period.

    Martin St. Louis scored at 14:20 of the third period to give Tampa a 3-2 lead.

    The game ended with the Lightning defeating the Devils, 3-2.   The Devils outshot the Lightning 10-6 in the third period, and 31-23 in the game.

    With Scott Niedermayer scratched, Tommy Albelin wore his 'A'.

    All fans in attendance of the game received a Stanley Cup Championship Locker Room Hat.
