December 18, 2003Game 30: Devils Beat Thrashers: 3-0, Skrlac Nets Winner!
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Thrashers 3-0 in Atlanta,
on Thursday, December 18, 2003. The shutout was Martin Brodeur's eighth
of the season and the 72nd of his career.
There was no scoring in the first period, though the Devils
outshot the Thrashers 13-5 in the period.
Rob Skrlac screened Nurminen and deflected a blast from Erik
Rasmussen at 8:50 of the second period to give the Devils a 1-0 lead.
Scott Stevens was also credited with an assist on Skrlac's first career NHL
The second period ended with the Devils leading Atlanta, 1-0.
The Devils outshot the Thrashers 15-7 in the period.
Colin White took a pass from Igor Larionov off a faceoff and
slammed the puck past Nurminen at 7:51 of the third period. White's
second goal of the season gave the Devils a 2-0 lead.
Scott Gomez lifted the puck over Nurminen at 10:02 to give New
Jersey a comfortable 3-0 lead. Tommy Albelin and Mike Rupp assisted on
Gomez's third goal of the season.
The game ended with the Devils winning, 3-0. The Devils
outshot the Thrashers 10-3 in the third period and 38-15 in the game.
