February 11, 2004 Game 55: Rangers Defeat Devils, 3-1
The New Jersey Devils fell 3-1 to the New York Rangers at the
Meadowlands on Wednesday, February 11, 2004. The loss gave the Devils
their first 3 game losing streak of the season.
Tom Poti beat Martin Brodeur at 13:32 of the first period on the
power-play to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead.
With just 0.3 of a second remaining in the first period, Boris
Mironov scored for the Rangers to increase the Rangers lead to 2 goals.
The Rangers outshot the Devils 9-7 in the period.
4:02 into the second period, Dan Lacouture made it a 3-0 Rangers
lead, beating Brodeur with a wraparound goal.
Turner Stevenson took his own rebound and roofed it over Mike
Dunham to get the Devils on the board. Stevenson's seventh goal of the
season came at 14:29 of the second period and was assisted by Patrik Elias and
Colin White.
The second period ended with the Rangers leading the Devils,
3-1. The Devils outshot the Rangers 13-6 in the period.
The Devils outshot the Rangers 9-1, but were unable to put the
puck past Dunham in the third period. The Devils outshot the Rangers,
29-16 in the game.
The season series is now tied, 1-1-1. The teams will meet
three more times in the regular season.
