The New Jersey Devils defeated the Bruins, 5-2 in Boston on
Saturday, April 3, 2004 - ruining the home team's fan appreciation day.

Erik Rasmussen beat Andrew Raycroft at 8:43 of the first period
to give the Devils a 1-0 lead. Jamie Langenbrunner and Jan Hrdina
assisted on Rasmussen's seventh goal of the season.
Martin Lapointe took advantage of a terrible Devils line change,
and beat Brodeur at 12:04 to tie the game.
Scott Niedermayer beat Raycroft with a power-play goal at 16:18
to regain the lead for the Devils. Viktor Kozlov and Paul Martin
assisted on Niedermayer's 14th goal of the season.
Turner Stevenson made the Bruins pay for their recklessness in
taking penalties, adding another power-play goal with just 40 seconds remaining
in the first period. Patrik Elias and Scott Niedermayer assisted on
Stevenson's 14th goal of the season.
The first period ended with the Devils leading the Bruins, 3-1.
The Devils outshot Boston, 15-13 in the period.
Jamie Langenbrunner did not see a shift after the first
period, he left the ice with a stiff neck.
Sergei Samsonov scored for Boston at 8:02 of the second period,
to give the Bruins hope. His goal was the only scoring in the period, in
which Boston outshot New Jersey, 18-8.
Erik Rasmussen, who twisted his ankle mid-way through the second
period, returned to play three additional shifts in the period, but as a
precaution, did not play in the third period.
Tommy Albelin recorded his first goal of the season 6:32 into
the third period to give the Devils a two goal lead. Scott Gomez and
Patrik Elias assisted on the goal.
Patrik Elias capped the Devils scoring with a goal at 16:51.
Scott Gomez was credited with the only assist on Elias' 38th goal of the
