Game 21: Devils Beat Panthers 5-1

    The New Jersey Devils defeated the Panthers, 5-1 in Florida on Wednesday, November 23, 2005.   The Devils next game will be played in Tampa Bay against the Lightning on Friday at 7:30PM.

    Colin White recorded his first goal of the season with a blast that beat Roberto Luongo at 16:53 of the first period.   Richard Matvichuk and Erik Rasmussen assisted on the goal.

    Grant Marshall beat Luogno just 26 seconds later to make it a 2-0 Devils lead.   Marshall's fourth goal of the season was assisted by Jay Pandolfo and Brian Rafalski.

    The Devils increased their lead to 3 goals when Brian Gionta scored at 18:26.   Gionta's 14th goal of the season was assisted by Viktor Kozlov and Brian Rafalski.

    The first period ended with the Devils leading the Panthers, 3-0.   The Devils outshot the Panthers 15-11 in the period.

    Alexander Mogilny scored just 2:23 into the second period to give New Jersey a 4-0 lead.   Vladimir Malakhov and Brian Rafalski assisted on Mogilny's sixth goal of the season.

    Scott Gomez piled on another Devils goal at 4:40 on the power-play to make it 5-0.   Gomez's sixth goal of the season was assisted by Brian Gionta and Jamie Langenbrunner.

    Jozef Stumpel got the Panthers on the board with a power-play goal with just 18 seconds remaining in the second period.

    The Devils outshot the Panthers 12-9 in the second period, which ended with the Devils leading 5-1.

    There was no scoring in the third period.   The Devils outshot the Panthers 8-5 in the third period and 35-25 in the game.
