December 13, 2005 Game 30: Devils Beat Oilers: 2-1 Shootout Victory
The New Jersey Devils beat the Edmonton Oilers at home with a 2-1
shootout victory on Tuesday, December 13, 2005.
Richard Matvichuk beat Ty Conklin at 11:51 of the first period to
give the Devils a 1-0 lead. Alexander Mogilny and John Madden assisted
on Matvichuk's first goal of the season.
The first period ended with the Devils leading the Oilers, 1-0.
The Devils outshot the Oilers 7-5 in the period.
Cory Cross put the puck off Jamie Langenbrunner and past Martin
Brodeur at 8:23 of the second period to tie the game, 1-1.
There was no scoring in the third period or the 5 minute overtime
period. Viktor Kozlov & Brian Gionta scored shootout goals and Martin
Brodeur stopped the two shots he faced to give the Devils victory.
