November 09, 2006 Game 15: Devils Defeat Blackhawks 2-1 Shootout
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 2-1 at
home, in a shootout on Thursday, November 9, 2006.
Mike Rupp got the Devils on the board early, taking advantage of
a strange bounce off the boards and putting the puck into an empty net at 2:31
of the first period. John Oduya was credited with the only assist on
Rupp's first goal of the season.
Tuomo Ruutu beat Martin Brodeur at 8:55 to tie the game, 1-1.
The Devils outshot the Blackhawks 12-8 in the first period, which
ended with the game tied, 1-1.
Neither team was able to score in the second period. The
Blackhawks outshot the Devils 10-6 in the period.
The Devils outshot the Hawks 9-4 in the third period, but neither
team scored, sending the game to overtime.
