November 11, 2006 Game 16: Devils Beat Panthers 4-2
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Florida Panthers 4-2 at home
on Saturday, November 11, 2006. The win increases the Devils winning
streak to four games.
Patrik Elias finally broke his scoreless streak by beating Ed
Belfour at 5:36 of the first period on a power-play. Elias' third goal
of the season was assisted by Sergei Brylin and Paul Martin.
Zach Parise made it a 2-0 Devils lead with a power-play goal at
17:02. John Madden and John Oduya assisted on Parise's seventh goal of
the season.
The Devils outshot the Panthers 11-3 in the period, which ended
with the Devils leading 2-0.
Sergei Brylin deflected a Brian Rafalski shot past Ed Belfour on
a 5 on 3 power-play to give the Devils a 3-0 lead 1:27 into the second
period. Patrik Elias also assisted on Brylin's third goal of
season.
Stephen Weiss beat Martin Brodeur on a power-play at 6:46 to get
Florida on the board, cutting the Devils lead to 2 goals.
Jamie Langenbrunner made it 4-1 Devils with a goal at 11:56.
Jim Dowd and Jay Pandolfo assisted on Langenbrunner's fourth goal of the
season.
The Devils led 4-1 at the end of the second period. The
shots were even, 6-6 in the period.
Chris Gratton scored at 8:02 of the third period to cut the
Devils lead to 2 goals.
The Panthers outshot the Devils 11-7 in the third period, but
were outshot 24-20 in the game.
