December 06, 2006 Game 26: Devils Beat Canadiens 2-1 In Overtime
The New Jersey Devils won 2-1 at home in overtime over the
Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday, December 6, 2006.
Radek Bonk beat Martin Brodeur 4:00 into the first period to give
Montreal an early 1-0 lead.
The Devils outshot the Habs 13-6 in the first period, though
trailed 0-1 on the scoreboard.
The Canadiens outshot the Devils 7-4 in the second period, in
which neither team was able to score.
Zach Parise beat Canadiens goaltender David Aebischer at 14:12 of
the third period to tie the game, 1-1. Parise's 10th goal of the season
was assisted by Scott Gomez and Brian Rafalski.
Regulation time ended with the game tied, 1-1, forcing overtime.
The Devils outshot Montreal 12-6 in the third period.
Patrik Elias scored on a power-play with just 8 seconds remaining
in the overtime period to win the game for the Devils. Brian Rafalski
and Scott Gomez assisted on Elias' eighth goal of the season.
