The New Jersey Devils beat the Bruins 5-1 in Boston on Saturday,
December 9, 2006.
Jay Pandolfo gave the Devils a 1-0 lead when he beat Boston
netminder Tim Thomas at 11:19 of the first period. Sergei Brylin and
John Madden assisted on Pandolfo's fourth goal of the season.
Jamie Langenbrunner scored his 11th goal of the season with just
1:13 remaining in the first period. Travis Zajac and Patrik Elias
assisted on the goal that gave the Devils a 2-0 lead.
The Devils outshot the Bruins 14-7 in the first period.
The Bruins got on the board when Marc Savard beat Martin Brodeur
at the 3:00 mark of the second period, cutting the Devils lead to 2-1.
The Devils outshot the Bruins 14-7 in the second period, which
ended with the Devils leading, 2-1.
Erik Rasmussen beat Hannu Toivonen at 10:10 of the third period,
scoring his first goal of the season in his 500th career game.
Rasmussen's goal was assisted by Brian Gionta and Paul Martin.
Sergei Brylin blasted the puck past Toivonen at 16:58 to give the
Devils a 4 goal lead. Brylin's fourth goal of the season was assisted by
Jay Pandolfo and John Madden.
The Devils outshot the Bruins 14-6 in the third period and 42-20
in the game.
