December 12, 2006 Game 29: Devils Fall To Sabres 2-3 At Home
The New Jersey Devils lost 2-3 at home to the Buffalo Sabres on
Tuesday, December 12, 2006.
There was no scoring in the first period. The Devils
outshot the Sabres 15-8 in the period.
Jochen Hecht beat Martin Brodeur at 12:05 of the second period to
give Buffalo a 1-0 lead.
The Sabres outshot the Devils 11-8 in the second period, which
ended with the Sabres leading, 1-0.
Maxim Afinogenov scored at 3:12 of the third period to give
Buffalo a 2-0 lead. Jason Pominville made it 3-0 with a goal just 2:17
later.
Erik Rasmussen spoiled Ryan Miller's shutout bid with just 38
seconds remaining in the third period. Rasmussen's second goal of the
season was assisted by Jim Dowd and Brad Lukowich.
Brian Gionta tipped the puck past Miller with just 18.9 seconds
remaining to get the Devils back within one goal. Patrik Elias and John
Madden assisted on Gionta's 13th goal of the season.
