January 12, 2007 Game 44: Devils Beat Thrashers 2-1
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Atlanta Thrashers 2-1 at home
on Friday, January 12, 2007.
Scott Mellanby beat Martin Brodeur at 17:12 of the first period
to give Atlanta a 1-0 lead.
The Devils outshot the Thrashers 8-6 in the first period, which
ended with Atlanta leading 1-0.
Scott Gomez tied the game with a 5 on 3 power-play goal that beat
Thashers netminder, Kari Lehtonen at 11:07 of the third period. Gomez's
seventh goal of the season was assisted by Brian Gionta and Brian
Rafalski.
28 seconds later Sergei Brylin gave the Devils their first lead
of the game with a power-play goal. Brylin's 10th goal of the season was
assisted by Zach Parise and Travis Zajac.
