January 13, 2007 Game 45: Devils Beat Islanders: 2-1 Overtime
The New Jersey Devils beat the Islanders 2-1 in overtime in New
York on Saturday, January 13, 2007. The Devils now lead the season
series 3-1.
The Islanders outshot the Devils 9-7 in the first period, though
neither team scored.
The Devils outshot the Islanders 13-7 in the second period, but
the game remained scoreless.
John Madden beat Rick DiPietro with just 1:18 remaining in
regulation time to give the Devils a 1-0 lead. Sergei Brylin and Jay
Pandolfo assisted on Madden's sixth goal of the season.
Miroslav Satan tied the game with a power-play goal that beat
Martin Brodeur with just 2 seconds remaining to force overtime.
Scott Gomez scored at 3:40 of the overtime period to win the
game for the devils. Gomez's eighth goal of the season was assisted by
Patrik Elias.
