January 18, 2007Game 47: Devils Lose 2-3 In Shootout To Lightning
The New Jersey Devils lost 2-3 in a shootout at home to the Tampa
Bay Lightning on Thursday, January 18, 2007.
Jay Pandolfo gave the Devils an early 1-0 lead with a goal that
beat Johan Holmqvist just 1:58 into the first period. Pandolfo's sixth
goal of the season was assisted by John Madden and Sergei Brylin.
The Lightning led the Devils in shots 13-12, but trailed 0-1 on
the scoreboard at the end of the first period.
Brad Richards beat Martin Brodeur 4:07 into the second period to
tie the game, 1-1. Richards scored again with 4 seconds remaining in the
period on a power-play.
The second period ended with the Lightning leading the Devils,
2-1. Tampa Bay outshot the Devils 9-4 in the period.
Paul Martin scored his first goal of the season at 12:50 of the
third period on a power-play to tie the game, 1-1. Martin's goal was
assisted by Zach Parise and Brian Rafalski.
