January 27, 2007 Game 50: Devils Fall To Panthers 2-4
The New Jersey Devils lost, 2-4 to the Panthers in Florida on
Saturday, January 27, 2007.
Brian Gionta beat Eddie Belfour at 4:34 of the first period to
give New Jersey a 1-0 lead. Jay Pandolfo and Scott Gomez assisted on
Gionta's 23rd goal of the season.
Rostislav Olesz scored a power-play goal that beat Martin Brodeur
at 9:28 to tie the game, 1-1.
The Panthers outshot the Devils 15-11 in the first period, which
ended with the game tied, 1-1.
Johnny Oduya was credited with a goal when his shot was deflected
by Ruslan Salei past Belfour at 2:25 of the second period. X
Olesz scored his second goal of the game 1:06, to again tie the
game. Joel Kwiatkowski gave the Panthers their first lead of the game
with a goal at 17:22.
The Devils outshot the Panthers 12-10 in the second period, but
Florida led 3-2 on the scoreboard.
Jozef Stumpel added an empty net goal for Florida with just 21
seconds remaining in regulation time.
