February 14, 2007 Game 57: Devils Beat Canadiens: 5-2
The New Jersey Devils beat the Montreal Canadiens 5-2 at home on
Wednesday, February 14, 2007.
At 15:46 of the first period Sheldon Souray beat Martin Brodeur
to give Montreal a 1-0 lead.
The Devils outshot the Habs 9-8 in the first period, but Montreal
led 1-0.
Brian Rafalski beat Cristobal Huet at 2:05 of the second period
on a 5 on 3 power-play to tie the game, 1-1. Patrik Elias and Jamie
Langenbrunner assisted on Rafalski's third goal of the season.
Zach Parise scored just 1 minute later on a 5 on 4 power-play to
give the Devils their first lead of the game. Parise's 22nd goal of the
season was assisted by Sergei Brylin and Travis Zajac.
Brian Rafalski scored his second goal of the game at 13:11 on a
power-play to give New Jersey a 3-1 lead. Scott Gomez and Patrik Elias
assisted on the goal.
Sergei Samsonov got the Habs back within one goal of the Devils
with a goal at 17:10.
The second period ended with the Devils leading, 3-2. The
Devils outshot the Canadiens 17-9 in the period.
Patrik Elias beat David Aebischer to give the Devils an insurance
goal at 10:44. Scott Gomez and Mike Rupp assisted on Elias' 19th goal of
the season.
Sergei Brylin added an empty net goal with just 42 seconds
remaining to seal the win for the Devils. Jamie Langenbrunner assited on
Brylin's 11th goal of the season.
