February 17, 2007 Game 59: Devils Shutout Islanders 2-0
Martin Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils shutout the Islanders,
2-0 in New York on Saturday, February 17, 2007. The shutout was number
11 for Brodeur on the season.
John Madden gave the Devils a 1-0 lead with his 9th goal of the
season that beat Rick DiPietro at 14:21 of the first period. Madden's
goal was assisted by Erik Rasmussen and Jay Pandolfo.
The Devils outshot the Islanders 15-7 and led 1-0 at the end of
the first period.
Sergei Brylin scored a power-play goal at 12:26 of the second
period to give New Jersey a 2-0 lead. Brylin's 12th goal of the season
was assisted by Patrik Elias and Jamie Langenbrunner.
The second period ended with the Devils leading 2-0. The
shots were even, 9-9 in the period.
The Islanders outshot the Devils 10-6 in the third period.
