April 05, 2007 Game 81: Devils Beat Flyers 3-2, Brodeur Gets Wins Record
The New Jersey Devils beat the Flyers 3-2 in Philadelphia on
Thursday, April 5, 2007. The win was Brodeur's 48th of the season,
passing Bernie Parent for the single season NHL wins record. The win
also clinched the Atlantic Division title for New Jersey.
Jeff Carter gave the Flyers an early 1-0 lead with a goal that
beat Martin Brodeur just 1:05 into the first period.
Jamie Langenbrunner beat Martin Biron with a power-play goal at
16:57 to tie the game, 1-1. Patrik Elias and Brian Rafalski assisted on
Langenbrunner's 23rd goal of the season.
The Flyers outshot the Devils 14-10 in the first period, which
ended with the teams tied, 1-1.
Simone Gagne gave the Flyers a 2-1 lead with a goal at 9:27 of
the second period.
Sergei Brylin tied the game with a power-play goal at 14:31.
Brylin's 16th goal of the season was assisted by Andy Greene and Zach
Parise.
The Devils outshot the Flyers 14-9 in the second period, which
ended with the game tied, 2-2.
Jim Dowd scored a short-handed goal at 8:46 of the third period
to give the Devils their first lead of the game. Sergei Brylin assisted
on Dowd's fourth goal of the season.
