April 18, 2007 R1 Game 4: Devils WIN - BEAT Lightning: 4-3 (Overtime 1)
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Lightning 4-3 in the first
overtime in Tampa Bay for Game 4 of Round 1 of the 2007 Stanley Cup Playoffs on
Wednesday, April 18, 2007. The best-of-seven series is now tied, 2 games
to 2.
Brian Gionta beat Holmqvist at 6:04 of the first period, one
second after a Devils power-play had ended, to give the Devils a 1-0 lead.
Johnny Oduya and Brian Rafalski assisted on Gionta's second goal
of the playoffs.
Eric Perrin beat Martin Brodeur at 12:08 to tie the game,
1-1.
Zach Parise regained the lead for the Devils with a great goal
at 14:20 to make it 2-1 New Jersey. Paul Martin and Travis Zajac assisted
on Parise's fifth goal of the post-season.
The Devils outshot the Lightning 10-6 in the first period, which
ended with the Devils leading 2-1.
Zach Parise scored his second goal of the game at 9:42 of the
second period on a power-play to make it a 2 goal Devils lead. Parise's
goal was assisted by Andy Greene and Travis Zajac.
The Lightning got back within one goal of the Devils when Martin
St. Louis scored a 4 on 4 goal at 11:39.
Shots were even, 12-12 in the second period, which ended with the
score tied, 3-3.
nbsp; The Lightning outshot the Devils 10-7 in the third period, but
regulation time ended with the score still tied, 3-3.
Scott Gomez won the game for the Devils with a goal at 12:54 of
the first overtime. Gomez's first goal of the post-season was scored
unassisted.
