October 06, 2007 Game 2: Devils Defeat Panthers 4-1
The New Jersey Devils got their first win of the 2007-2008
season when they defeated the Panthers 4-1 in Florida on Saturday, October 6,
2007.
John Madden gave the Devils an early 1-0 lead with a goal just
1:02 into the first period. Arron Asham and Jay Pandolfo assisted on
Madden's first goal of the season.
Cory Murphy beat Kevin Weekes with a 5 on 3 power-play goal at
9:13.
The Panthers outshot the Devils 21-9 in the first period, which
ended with the score tied, 1-1.
John Madden Scored his second goal of the game at 3:2 of the
second period. David Clarkson was credited with the only assist on the
goal.
Andy Greene gave the Devils a 3-1 lead with a goal at 17:44.
Patrik Elias assisted on Greene's first goal of the season.
The second period ended with the Devils leading 3-1. The
Devils outshot the Panthers 12-5 in the second period.
Mike Mottau scored his first career NHL goal at 12:36 of the
third period to give the Devils a 4-1 lead. Zach Parise assisted on
the goal.
The Panthers outshot the Devils 7-3 in the third period and 33-24
in the game.
