October 20, 2007 Game 8: Devils Fall 3-4 in OT to Islanders
The New Jersey Devils lost 3-4 in overtime to the Islanders on
Long Island on Saturday, October 20, 2007.
Zach Parise beat Rick DiPietro just 55 seconds into the first
period to give the Devils an early 1-0 lead. Parise's second goal of the
season was assisted by Dainius Zubrus.
The shots were even, 8-8 in the first period, which ended with
New Jersey leading 1-0.
Josef Vasicek tied the game with a goal at 3:31 of the second
period. Miroslav Satan scored just 2:04 later to make it a 2-1 Islander
lead. Mike Comrie added a power-play goal at 12:03 to give the Islanders
a 2 goal lead.
The Islanders outshot the Devils 16-7 in the second period and
led 3-1 on the scoreboard.
Jay Pandolfo cut the Islanders lead to one goal 2:22 into the
third period. Sergei Brylin and Rod Pelley assisted on Pandolfo's third
goal of the season.
Regulation time ended with the score tied, 3-3. Bill
Guerin scored a 4 on 3 power-play goal with just 3.7 second remaining in the
overtime period to win the game for Long Island.
