December 05, 2007Game 27: Devils BEAT Bruins: 4-3 Overtime
The New Jersey Devils beat the Boston Bruins 4-3 at home in
overtime on Wednesday, December 5, 2007. Jamie Langenbrunner took the
ice with a "C" as the new Devils team Captain.
Zdeno Chara beat Martin Brodeur at 6:21 of the first period to
give the Bruins a 1-0 lead. Glen Murray increased the Bruins lead with a
goal at 11:36. Dennis Wideman made it a 3 goal Boston lead with a
power-play goal at 16:40.
The shots were even, 11-11 in the first period, but the Bruins
led 3-0 in goals.
Patrik Elias got the Devils on the board with a goal that beat
Boston netminder Tim Thomas at 6:51 of the second period. Elias' fifth
goal of the season was assisted by Brian Gionta and Zach Parise.
Zach Parise got the Devils back within one with a power-play goal
at 15:51. Parise's 13th goal of the season was assisted by Patrik Elias
and Paul Martin.
The Devils outshot the Bruins 13-6 in the second period, and cut
Boston's lead to one goal.
Zach Parise tied the game with a goal at 14:03 of the third
period. Parise's second goal of the game was assisted by Sheldon
Brookban and Mike Mottau.
Regulation time ended with the game tied, 3-3. The Bruins
oushot the Devils 9-7 in the third period.
Patrik Elias won the game for New Jersey with a goal at 3:16 of
