January 12, 2008 Game 44: Devils Beat Sabres: 3-2 Shootout
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Sabres 3-2 with a shootout
victory in Buffalo on Saturday, January 12, 2008.
Daniel Paille gave the Sabres an early 1-0 lead with a goal that
beat Martin Brodeur just 58 seconds into the first period. Paille scored
again at 10:38 to increase Buffalo's lead to two goals.
The first period ended with Buffalo leading 2-0. The
Sabres outshot the Devils 7-6 in the period.
Paul Martin beat Ryan Miller at 13:47 of the second period to cut
the Sabres lead to one goal. Martin's third goal of the season was
assisted by Johnny Oduya and Brian Gionta.
The Sabres outshot the Devils 10-6 in the second period, which
ended with the Sabres leading 2-1.
David Clarkson tied the game with Martin Brodeur on the bench at
18:53 of the third period. Andy Green assisted on Clarkson's fifth goal
of the season.
