January 20, 2008 Game 47: Devils Beat Maple Leafs 3-2
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2 at
home on Sunday, January 20, 2008. The Devils now lead the season series
2-0.
The Devils outshot the Maple Leafs 16-10 in the first period,
though the game remained scoreless after the first 20 minutes.
Travis Zajac beat Andrew Raycroft at 17:28 of the second period
to give the Devils a 1-0 lead. Zajac's 11th goal of the season was
assisted by Karel Rachunek and Johnny Oduya.
John Madden gave the Devils a 2-0 lead with a goal at 19:47.
Zach Parise and Colin White assisted on Madden's 13th goal of the
season.
The Leafs outshot the Devils 13-11 in the second period, but the
Devils led 2-0 after 2 periods.
John Madden scored his second goal of the game at 3:54 of the
third period. Paul Martin and Jamie Langenbrunner assisted on the
goal.
Darcy Tucker beat Martin Brodeur just 1:00 after Madden's goal to
get Toronto on the board. Pavel Kubina cut the Devils lead to one goal,
beating Brodeur at 8:29.
