February 13, 2008Game 57: Devils Beat Senators: 3-2 Overtime
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Ottawa Senators 3-2 at the
Prudential Center on Wednesday, February 13, 2008.
Luke Richardson beat Martin Brodeur at 5:25 of the first period to
give the Senators a 1-0 lead.
The shots were even, 7-7 in the first period, though the Senators
led 1-0 in goals.
Jamie Langenbrunner tied the gate with a short-handed goal that
he blasted ast Martin Gerber at 6:12 of the second period. Patrik Elias
was credited with the only assisted on Langenbrunner's 10th goal of the
Karel Rachunek gave the Devils their first lead of the game with
a goal at 8:04. Rachunek's fourth goal of the season was assisted by
Zach Parise and Patrik Elias.
Randy Robitaille tied the game with a goal at 15:29.
The Devils outshot the Senators 18-11 in the second period, which
ended with the game tied, 2-2.
The Senators outshot the Devils 6-4 in the third period, though
neither team scored - sending the game to overtime.
Brian Gionta won the game for New Jersey with a goal at 2:14 of
the overtime period. Jamie Langenbrunner assisted on Gionta's 14th goal
of the season.
