February 16, 2008 Game 59: Devils Beat Senators 3-2
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Senators 3-2 in Ottawa on
Saturday, February 16, 2008.
Arron Asham beat Ray Emery at 9:05 of the first period to give
the Devils a 1-0 lead. Asham's fifth goal of the season was assisted by
Mike Mottau.
The Devils outshot the Senators 9-7 in the first period, which
ended with New Jersey leading 1-0.
Asham scored his second goal of the game, blasting the puck past
Emery at 3:10 of the second period. Mike Rupp and Paul Martin assisted
on the goal.
The Devils took a 3-0 lead when Zach Parise scored a power-play
goal at 7:44. Brian Gionta and Paul Martin assisted on Parise's 22nd
goal of the season.
Jason Spezza got the Senators on the scoreboard with a goal that
beat Martin Brodeur at 16:37.
The Senators outshot the Devils 19-12 in the second period,
the the Devils led 3-1 in goals after 40 minutes of play.
Chris Kelly scored at 12:53 of the third period to get Ottawa
within a goal of New Jersey.
