March 07, 2008 Game 68: Devils Beat Lightning: 2-1 Overtime
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Tampa Bay Lighting 2-1 in
overtime at the Prudential Center on Friday, March 7, 2008.
Zach Parise beat Karri Ramo at 12:16 of the first period to give
the Devils a 1-0 lead. Patrik Elias and Brian Gionta assisted on
Parise's 28th goal of the season.
The shots were even, 7-7 in the first period, but the Devils led
1-0 in goals after the first 20 minutes of play.
Michel Ouellet tied the game when he scored for the Lightning,
beating Martin Brodeur on a power-play at 17:30.
The second period ended with the game tied, 1-1. The
Devils outshot the Lightning 9-6 in the period.
Neither team scored in the third period - sending the game to overtime.
Patrik Elias won the game with a goal at 4:02 of the overtime
period.
