October 22, 2008 Game 6: Devils WASTE Stars 5-0
The New Jersey Devils demolished the Dallas Stars, 5-0 at the
Prudential Center on Wednesday, October 22, 2008. The shutout was the
second of the season for Martin Brodeur.
Jamie Langenbrunner gave the Devils an early 1-0 lead with a goal
that beat Marty Turco just 1:59 into the first period. Zach Parise and
Travis Zajac assisted on Langenbrunner's first goal of the season.
The Devils outshot the Stars 7-5 in the first period, and led 1-0
in goals after 20 minutes of play.
The Devils took a 2-0 lead with a goal from John Madden at 9:05
of the second period. Paul Martin and Jay Pandolfo assisted on Madden's
second goal of the season.
Madden increased the Devils lead by scoring his second goal of
the game just 1:12 later. Bryce Salvador and Brian Gionta assisted on
the goal, which sent Tobias Stephan to the Stars' net.
The second period ended with the Devils leading the Stars 3-0.
New Jersey oiutshot Dallas 13-8 in the period.
Zach Parise made it 4-0 New Jersey with a goal at 9:49 of the
third period. Parise's fourth goal of the season was assisted by Andy
Greene and Travis Zajac.
David Clarkson scored his first goal of the season just 53
seconds after Parise's goal to make it a five goal Devils lead.
Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond and Andy Greene assisted on Clarkson's
goal.
The Devils outshot the Stars 9-8 in the third period and 29-21 in
the game.
