November 05, 2008 Game 12: Devils Strike Lightning 4-3 in Shootout
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-3 in a
shootout at the Prudential Center on Wednesday, November 5, 2008.
Jussi Jokinen beat Kevin Weekes at 16:28 of the first period to
give the Lightning a 1-0 lead.
The first period ended with Tampa Bay leading New Jersey 1-0.
The Lightning outshot the Devils 9-8 in the period.
David Clarkson tied the game with a goal that beat Mike Smith at
16:05 of the second period. Dainius Zubrus and Colin White assisted on
Clarkson's third goal of the season.
Patrik Elias added a power-play goal at 18:44 to give the Devils
a 2-1 lead. Elias' fourth goal of the season was assisted by Dainius
Zubrus and Brian Gionta.
The Devils led 2-1 at the end of the second period. The
Devils outshot the Lightning 16-7 in the period.
Jussi Jokinen scored his second goal of the game at 10:52 of the
third period to tie the game, 2-2.
At 15:10 Jay Pandolfo gave the Devils a 3-2 lead with his second
goal of the season. John Madden and Patrik Elias assisted on the
goal.
Martin St. Louis tied the game with a power-play goal at
16:40.
Regulation time ended with the score tied, 3-3, forcing a 5
minute overtime session. Neither team scored in the overtime, sending
the game to a shootout.
