November 20, 2008 Game 18: Devils Beat Panthers 3-1
The New Jersey Devils skated to a 3-1 victory over the Florida
Panthers at home on Thursday, November 20, 2008.
The Devils outshot the Panthers 12-5 in the first perid, but the
game remained scoreless.
Patrik Elias got the Devils on the board with a goal that beat
Tomas Vokoun at 6:47 of the second period. Brian Gionta and Dainius
Zubrus assisted on Elias' eighth goal of the season.
The second period ended with New Jersey leading 1-0. The
Panthers outshot the Devils 10-1 in the period.
Paul Martin scored his first goal of the season at 5:49 of the
third period to make it 2-0. David Clarkson and John Madden assisted on
the goal.
Just 1:02 after Martin's goal, Brian Gionta scored to increase
the Devils lead to three goals. Patrik Elias and Dainius Zubrus
assisted on Gionta's fourth tally of the season.
Michael Frolik scored his first career NHL goal at 8:42 on a
power-play to cut the Devils lead to two goals.
