December 27, 2008 Game 34: Devils BEAT Rangers 4-2
The New Jersey Devils skated to a 4-2 win at Madison Square
Garden over the Rangers on Saturday, December 27, 2008.
2:54 into the first period, Brian Rolston give the Devils a 1-0
lead on a power-play. Rolston's fourth goal of the season was assisted
by Brian Gionta and Dainius Zubrus.
Patrik Elias beat Henrik Lunqvist at 4:14, short-handed to give
New Jersey a two goal lead. Travis Zajac assisted on Elias' 17th goal of
the season.
Scott Clemmensen was beat by Nigel Dawes on a power-play at 5:14
to get the Rangers on the board.
The first period ended with the Devils leading the Rangers, 2-1.
The Devils outshot the Rangers 17-7 in the period.
Travis Zajac beat Lundqvist at 11:12 of the second period to make
it 3-1 Devils. Zajac's 10th goal of the season was assisted by Patrik
Elias and Zach Parise.
The Rangers outshot the Devils 17-11 in the period, which ended
with New Jersey leading 3-1.
Dmitri Kalinin gave the Rangers hope with a goal at 8:59 of the
third period to get the Rangers back within a goal of the Devils.
Zach Parise scored his 19th goal of the season at 12:58.
Jamie Langenbrunner and Travis Zajac assisted on the goal.
