December 31, 2008 Game 36: Devils Lose 2-4 to Stars In Dallas
The New Jersey Devils lost 2-4 to the Stars in Dallas on
Wednesday, December 31, 2008.
Loui Eriksson beat Scott Clemmensen with a short-handed goal at
10:09 of the first period to give the Stars a 1-0 lead.
Mike Mottau evened the score with a goal that beat Marty Turco at
17:30. Patrik Elias and Brian Gionta assisted on Mottau's first goal of
the season.
David Clarkson scored a power-play goal with just 24 seconds
remaining in the first period. Dainius Zubrus and Brian Gionta assisted
on Clarkson's seventh goal of the season.
The first period ended with the Devils leading the Stars, 2-1.
The Devils outshot the Stars 14-10 in the first 20 minutes.
Landon Wilson tied the game with a goal at 5:39 of the second
period. Mark Parrish scored a power-play goal at 9:58 to give the Stars
a 3-2 lead.
The Stars outshot the Devils 19-2 in the second period, which
ended with Dallas leading, 3-2.
Loui Eriksson added an empty net goal at 19:19 of the third
period to seal the win for Dallas.
