The New Jersey Devils defeated the Canadiens 4-1 in Montreal on
Saturday, March 14, 2009. The victory for Brodeur tied Patrik Roy for
the lead in all-time wins (551).
Patrik Elias scored his 700th point with a goal that beat
Jaroslav Halak at 5:27 of the first period on a 5 on 3 power-play.
Elias' 28th goal of the season was assisted by Travis Zajac and Zach
Brian Rolston scored his 300th career goal on a power-play at
11:08. Niclas Havelid and Patrik Elias assisted on Rolston's 14th goal
of the season.
Tomas Plekanec got the Canadiens on the board with a goal that
beat Martin Brodeur at 12:29.
The Devils outshot the Canadiens 14-7 in the first period, which
ended with the Devils leading, 2-1.
There were no goals scored in the second period, in which the
Devils outshot the Habs 18-11.
Jamie Langenbrunner beat Halak at 12:57 of the third period to
give the Devils a 3-1 lead. Travis Zajac and Zach Parise assisted on
Langenbrunner's 23rd goal of the season.
