October 16, 2009 Game 6: Devils Can't Win At Home, 2-4 Loss to Atlanta
The New Jersey Devils lost their third home game of the season
with a 2-4 loss to the Atlanta Thrashers on Friday, October 16, 2009 The
Devils are winless at home and undefeated on the road so far this
season.
New Jersey domainated the first period, outshooting the Thrashers
15-4, but neither team scored.
Travis Zajac gave the Devils a 1-0 lead with a goal that beat
Ondrej Pavelec at 8:07 of the second period. Zajac's fourth goal of the
season was assisted by Jamie Langenbrunner and Bryce Salvador.
Atlants evened the game with a power-play goal from Rich Peverley
that beat Martin Brodeur at 14:57.
Atlanta outshot New Jersey 9-5 in the second period, which ended
with the score tied, 1-1.
Evander Kane scored just 1:3 into the third period to give
Atlanta a 2-1 lead. A power-play goal from Peverley at 5:55 made it
3-1.
Zach Parise gave the Devils hope with a goal at 13:10.
Parise's second goal of the season was assisted by Jamie Langenbrunner and
Bryce Salvador.
A short-handed goal from Chris Thorburn at 16:49 sealed the
Devils fate.
