October 17, 2009 Game 7: Devils Solve Home Woes With 2-0 Shutout Over Canes
The New Jersey Devils skated to a 2-0 shutout victory at home
over the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday, October 17, 2009. The victory
was the first of the season at home for New Jersey and the 102nd shutout for
Martin Brodeur.
Neither team managed to find the back of the net in the first
two periods. The Devils outshot the Canes 11-9 in the first period and
Carolina outshot New Jersey 7-5 in the second.
Jamie Langenbrunner broke the dead-lock, beating Cam Ward just 26
seconds into the third period. Langenbrunner's second goal of the season
was assisted by Rob Niedermayer and Zach Parise.
Zach Parise added an empty net goal to seal the win for New
Jersey at 19:20. Travis Zajac assisted on Parise's third of the
season.
