October 22, 2009 Game 8: Devils Defeat Rangers 4-2
The New Jersey Devils beat the Rangers 4-2 in New York on
Thursday, October 22, 2009.
Zach Parise beat Henrik Lundqvist at 6:11 of the first period to
give New Jersey a 1-0 lead. Jamie Langenbrunner and Rob Niedermayer
assisted on Parise's fourth goal of the season.
Nicklas Bergfors scored his first career NHL goal at 15:10 to make
it a 2-0 Devils lead. David Clarkson and Travis Zajac assisted on the
goal.
The Devils outshot the Rangers 8-7 in the first period, which
ended with the Devils leading, 2-0.
Marian Gaborik beat Martin Brodeur on a power-play at 1:47 of the
second period to get the Rangers on the board. Ales Kotalik tied the
game with a goal at 14:25.
The second period ended with the teams tied, 2-2. The
Rangers outshot the Devils 13-6 in the period.
Dainius Zubrus re-gained the lead for New Jersey with a goal at
7:51 of the third period. Zubrus' first of the season was assisted by
Zach Parise.
Zach Parise added an empty net goal at 19:19 to seal the win for
New Jersey. His second goal of the game was scored unassisted.
