The New Jersey Devils lost 1-4 to the Capitals in Washington
on Saturday, December 26, 2009.
Alex Ovechkin beat Martin Brodeur at 4:09 of the first period.
Matt Bradley made it 2-0 Washington with a goal at 13:54.
Rod Pelley got the Devils on the board with a goal that beat
Michal Neuvirth at 17:18. Pelley's second goal of the season was
assisted by Ilkka Pikkarainen.
The Devils outshot the Capitals 15-14 in the first period, which
ended with Washington leading, 2-1.
Nicklas Backstom beat Brodeur at 9:52 of the second period to
increase the Capitals lead to 3-1.
The Capitals outshot the Devils 19-5 in the second period.
Mike Green scored for Washington just 39 seconds into the third
period to give the Capitals a commanding 4-1 lead.
