January 09, 2010 Game 43: Devils Beat Canadiens 2-1 Overtime
The New Jersey Devils were victorious 2-1 in overtime over the
Montreal Canadiens on Saturday, January 9, 2010.
Travis Zajac beat Jaroslav Halak at 4:07 of the first period to
give the Devils a 1-0 lead. Zach Parise and Jamie Langebrunner assisted
on Zajac's 11th goal of the season.
The Canadiens outshot the Devils 11-7 in the first period, which
ended with the Devils leading, 1-0.
Ex-Devil Scott Gomez puck the puck behind Martin Brodeur at 7:38
of the second period on a power-play to tie the game 1-1.
The second period ended with the game tied. The Habs
outshot the Devils 10-8 in the period.
Neither team scored in the third period, forcing overtime.
Zach Parise won the game for New Jersey, beating Halak and 2:38. Travis
Zajac was credited with the only assist on Parise's 19th goal of the
season.
