The New Jersey Devils lost 3-4 to the Coyotes in Phoenix on
Thursday, January 14, 2010.
Matthew Lombardi beat Martin Brodeur at 13:16 of the first period
to give Phoenix a 1-0 lead. Peter Mueller made it 2-0 with a goal at
The Devils outshot the Coyotes 11-8 in the first period, but
Phoenix led 2-0 in goals when the period ended.
Brian Rolston got the Devils on the board with a goal that beat
Ilya Bryzgalov at 9:31 of the second period. Rod Pelley and Mike Mottau
assisted on Rolston's 14th goal of the season.
Travis Zajac tied the game with a goal at 14:06. Zajac's
13th of the season was assisted by Zach Parise.
The second period ended with the game tied, 2-2. The
Devils outshot the Coyotes 15-1 in the period.
Daniel Winnik regained the lead for Phoenix with a goal at 11:52.
A power-play goal from Zbynek Michalek at 13:08 made it 4-2
Brian Rolston scored his second goal of the game at 15:16 to give
the Devils hope, but New Jersey was unable to tie it up. Jamie
Langenbrunner and Mike Mottau were credited with assists on the goal.
