January 31, 2010 Game 54: Kings Defeat Devils 3-2
The New Jersey Devils lost 2-3 at home to the Los Angeles Kings
on Sunday, January 31, 2010.
Johnny Oduya gave the Devils a 1-0 lead with a goal that beat
Jonathan Quick at 4:45 of the first period. Oduya's second goal of the
season was assisted by Zach Parise and Brian Rolston.
The Devils outshot the Kings 9-4 in the first period, which
ended with New Jersey leading 1-0.
Travis Zajac made it 2-0 New Jersey with a goal at 5:54 of the
second period. Dainius Zubrus and Zach Parise assisted on Zajac's 16th
goal of the season.
Michal Handzus got the Kings on the board with a goal that beat
Martin Brodeur with just 29 seconds remaining in the second period.
The second period ended with the Devils leading 2-1. The
Kings outshot the Devils 10-5 in the period.
Wayne Simmonds tied the game with just 1:46 remaining in the
third period, and Drew Doughty added a power-play goal with just 28 seconds
remaining to win the game for Los Angeles.
