April 18, 2010 R1 G3: Devils Fall To Flyers 2-3 in OT
The New Jersey Devils lost 2-3 in Overtime to the Flyers in
Philadelphia on Sunday, April 18, 2010. The Flyers now lead the series
two games to one.
Brian Rolston put the Devils on the scoreboard first with a
power-play goal at 7:15 of the first period. Ilya Kovalchuk and Travis
Zajac assisted on Rolston's first goal of the post-season.
Claude Giroux beat Martin Brodeur on a power-play just 1:34 after
Rolston's goal to tie the game, 1-1.
The first period ended with the game tied, 1-1. The Flyers
outshot the Devils 8-5 in the period.
Mike Richards made it 2-1 Philadelphia with a goal just 1:15 into
the second period.
Brian Rolston scored his second goal of the game on a power-play
at 16:38 of the second period to tie the game. Ilya Kovalchuk and Patrik
Elias assisted on the goal.
The Devils outshot the Flyers 10-8 in the second period, which
ended with the teams tied 2-2.
The Flyers outshot the Devils 12-3 in the third period, though
neither team scored - which sent the game to overtime.
David Clarkson was assessed a truly weak penalty and the Flyers
took advantage, scoring just after their power-play ended at 3:35 of the first
overtime.
