October 13, 2010 Game 4: Devils BEAT Sabres: 1-0 Overtime
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Sabres 1-0 in overtime in
Buffalo on Wednesday, October 13, 2010. The victory is the first of the
season for New Jersey. The shutout was the 111th of Martin Brodeur's
career.
The Devils outshot the Sabres 15-1 in the first period, but
neither team buried a puck in the first 20 minutes of play.
The second period also ended with the game scoreless. The
Sabres outshot the Devils 15-11 in the period.
Regulation time ended with the teams still tied with no goals
scored. The Sabres outshot the Devils 8-6 in the third period.
Ilya Kovalchik scored his first goal of the season just 53
seconds into the overtime period to win the game for New Jersey. Matt
Taormina and Jamie Langenbrunner assisted on the goal.
