November 03, 2010 Game 14: Devils Beat Blackhawks 5-3
The New Jersey Devils finished a long road trip with a 5-3 win
over the Blackhawks in Chicago on Wednesday, November 3, 2010.
Jason Arnott gave the Devils a 1-0 lead with a goal that beat
Marty Turco at 15:31 of the first period. Patrik Elias was credited with
the only assist on Arnott's fourth goal of the season.
The Devils outshot the Blackhawks 8-5 in the first period, which
ended with New Jersey leading 1-0.
Travis Zajac scored at 4:14 of the second period to give New
Jersey a 2-0 lead. Ilya Kovalchuk and Jamie Langenbrunner assisted on
Zajac's second goal of the season.
At 5:48 of the second period, Martin Brodeur was stung by a shot
and left the game, sending Johan Hedberg to the Devils net.
Brian Campbell beat Hedberg at 16:02 to get Chicago on the
board. The second period ended with the Devils leading 2-1. The
Blackhawks outshot the Devils 15-6 in the period.
Fernando Pisani tied the game with a power-play goal 3:42 into
the third period.
Bradley Mills scored his first career NHL game at 16:09 to regain
the lead for New Jersey. Jamie Langenbrunner and Ilya Kovalchuk assisted
on the goal.
Jamie Langenbrunner added an empty net goal at 19:10.
Patrik Elias and Travis Zajac assisted on Langenbrunner's second goal of the
season.
Viktor Stalberg gave Devils' fans a scare when he scored with 34
seconds remaining to cut the Devils lead to a single goal.
Andy Greene scored an empty net goal with 8 seconds remaining to
seal the win for New Jersey. His second goal of the season was scored
unassisted.
