November 12, 2010 Game 17: DEVILS WIN AT HOME! 4-3 OT Over Oilers
The New Jersey Devils won their first home game of the season
on Friday, November 12, 2010. The victory came in overtime, 4-3 over the
Edmonton Oilers.
Colin Fraser beat Martin Brodeur at 4:34 and 9:50 of the first
period to give the Oilers a 2-0 lead.
Alexander Vasyunov scored his first career NHL goal at 15:43 to
get the Devils on the board. Travis Zajac and Patrik Elias assisted on
the goal.
The Devils outshot the Oilers 14-12 in the first period, which
ended with Edmonton leading 2-1.
Sam Gagner scored at 5:11 of the second period to make it a 3-1
Oilers lead.
Brian Rolston scored hist first goal of the season at 16:52 to
get the Devils back within a goal of Edmonton. David Clarkson and
Dainius Zubrus assisted on the goal.
The second period ended with the Oilers leading 3-2. The
Devils outshot the Oilers 10-8 in the period.
Mattias Tedenby scored a power-play goal at 11:00 of the third
period to tie the game. Andy Greene and Jason Arnott assisted on
Tedenby's first career NHL goal.
Regulation time ended with the game tied, 3-3. The Devils
outshot the Oilers 12-3 in the third period.
Ilya Kovalchuk let Devils fans in attendance leave with smiles on
their faces when he scored a power-play goal at 3:27 of the overtime period to
give the Devils their first home win of the season. Henrik Tallinder and
Patrik Elias assisted on Kovalchuk's fourth goal of the season.
